Following the MRT news published in September 2022 which mentioned that the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) has released the new technical provision IFT-011-2022 (NOM-221 Part 3), now the technical provision IFT-011-2022 has come into enforce on March 12th, 2023, after the publication of 180 days in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
The new technical provision aims to establish technical requirement and testing approach for the Mobile Terminal Equipment (cell phones and/or smart phones) that uses radio spectrum or can connect to telecommunications networks for the reception and processing of emergency alert messages through the Cellular Broadcasting Service (CBS).
With the enforcement of new provision, the type of mentioned devices now has to comply with the technical requirement of IFT-011-2022 and to obtain IFT approval through testing by authorized laboratories.
